Writing Challenge: Flash Fiction
Here’s a simple writing challenge for you today. In honor of our upcoming flash fiction contest (more details to come,) we’d like you to try this out:
Write a piece of flash fiction (we’ll define that as a story under 400 words) incorporating the following things:
- A magic trick
- A retired firefighter
- The line: “It’s something I’ve lost.”

When asked to write a full story in six words, Ernest Hemingway once responded with “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” This story in a sentence has become somewhat of a trend now. So why not try it yourself? Try to write a story in six words. Here are some links for inspiration:
